Why should I trust Mexico Transgender Center? Established in 2010, we are the premier destination for gender-affirming surgery in Mexico. Our long-standing, globally trusted reputation is built on the expertise of Dr. Ivan Aguilar and Dr. Carlos Mendez—two internationally recognized surgeons dedicated to delivering exceptional results and the highest standard of patient care.

Where is Mexico Transgender Center located? Our main center is located in Guadalajara, where we have partnered with CHG Hospitales, one of Mexico’s top private hospitals. We also offer select procedures at our Tijuana clinic, alongside our locations in Culiacán and Mexico City.

Do I need to provide a gender dysphoria letter? We recognize that obtaining a formal letter is becoming increasingly difficult. To reduce barriers to care, we do not require these letters for adult patients aged 21 and older. Patients under 21 may need to provide a letter of consent from a parent or guardian. Please note that a formal clinical letter is still required for all patients undergoing Gender Reassignment Surgery (GRS), except for zero-depth SRS/GRS and nullification.

Will you pick me up at the airport? Yes! Every patient who travels to our Guadalajara or Tijuana clinic receives our complimentary VIP concierge service to ensure a smooth, stress-free experience.

What is included in our surgical package?

• Medical & Surgical: Initial and follow-up consultations with your surgeon, surgeon and anesthesiologist fees, operating room fees, a 1-night hospital stay, and all medications (both in-hospital and prescribed take-home meds).

• Complimentary VIP Concierge Services: Complete ground transportation (Airport ↔ Hotel, and Hotel ↔ Hospital) and daily in-hotel nurse wellness visits.

What is NOT included? Airfare, hotel accommodations, and meals.

How can I stay connected during my trip? Our entire team uses WhatsApp to communicate with you. Your driver will message you there as soon as you land, and our patient coordinators and nurses will use it to check in and assist you while you are under our care. Please ensure your mobile plan includes data coverage in Mexico.

Can I have an online consultation with the surgeons? Yes, absolutely! We offer private virtual consultations via WhatsApp, FaceTime, or a standard phone call. Additionally, every patient receives a comprehensive, private consultation with their surgeon on the day of their procedure.

Why are our surgery prices lower than in the USA? High-quality healthcare in Mexico is significantly more cost-effective than in the United States due to favorable currency exchange rates and lower operational overhead. We are dedicated to providing top-tier, accessible care, and for us, lower costs never mean a compromise in quality.

What is our Body Mass Index (BMI) requirement? We generally accept healthy patients with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of up to 35 for most procedures.

Is laser hair removal or electrolysis required for SRS? No. We have very good news: you do not need painful pre-operative hair removal. We will surgically remove up to 99% of hair follicles during the surgery.

What is our HIV policy? We welcome HIV-positive patients whose viral load shows as “undetectable” on lab work. Please note that there is a non-negotiable additional hospital/doctor fee of $1,500 USD added to the quote for these cases.

Do we offer HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy)? Because our primary focus is providing exceptional surgical care, we do not currently have an endocrinologist on staff and do not offer HRT. We recommend connecting with your primary care provider for hormone management. However, for surgical patients (such as those undergoing an orchiectomy), we can provide a one-time prescription that can be filled locally in Mexico.

What is our deposit and rescheduling policy? We only ask for a 20% deposit to secure your surgery date. While deposits are non-refundable for cancellations or no-shows, they are valid for a full year. You can reschedule your procedure without losing your deposit, and we will do everything we can to accommodate your request.

Can I pay for my surgery with a credit card? Yes, we securely accept Visa and Mastercard. Please note that a 16% tax is applied to all card transactions. We do not accept American Express or Discover at this time.

Do I need a passport as a US citizen to enter Mexico? Yes. If you are a US citizen entering Mexico by air, you are required to have a passport valid for at least six months beyond your dates of travel.

I’ve been turned down by other clinics; can we help? Yes. Many surgeons have strict BMI limits or health restrictions, but we believe everyone deserves access to care. In 90% of cases where patients were turned away elsewhere, we are able to safely accommodate them and deliver exceptional results.

My BMI is very high; can we help with weight loss? Yes! We understand that weight loss is sometimes a necessary step for safety. We now offer gastric bypass surgery with one of the top bariatric surgeons in Mexico to help you qualify for gender-affirming care or achieve your health goals.

Do we offer puberty blockers to minors? No. Our clinic strictly specializes in surgical care; we do not provide general endocrinology services or puberty blockers.
