Required Laboratory Tests & Take-Home Medications
Financial Responsibility for Ancillary Services and Prescriptions
1. Pre-Operative Diagnostics and Clearance
Unless explicitly stated in writing on the patient’s finalized surgical invoice, the patient assumes full financial responsibility for any and all costs associated with pre-operative medical clearances. This includes, but is not limited to: laboratory blood panels, electrocardiograms (EKG/ECG), computed tomography (CT) scans, radiological imaging, and any other diagnostic testing mandated by the surgical or anesthesia team prior to the procedure.
2. Post-Discharge Medications
The patient is solely responsible for the procurement and financial cost of all prescribed take-home medications, pharmaceutical treatments, and medical supplies required following their formal discharge from the hospital or surgical facility. The clinic’s surgical fee does not cover outpatient pharmacy expenses or post-discharge medical goods.
Pre-Operative Lab Work and Diagnostic Requirements
To ensure the highest standard of safety during your procedure, the Mexico Transgender Center requires all patients to complete a specific panel of pre-operative blood work.
Required Blood Work Parameters:
- Complete Blood Count (CBC)
- Prothrombin Time (PT)
- Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (PTT)
- Plasma Prothrombin Time (PPT)
- Hepatitis B & Hepatitis C
- HIV
Note: Must be Non-Reactive. If HIV-positive, lab work must confirm an “undetectable” viral load, and a non-negotiable additional hospital/doctor fee of $1,500 USD is applied to the surgical quote.
Lab Work Pricing and Logistics:
-
Guadalajara Clinic: Approximately $299 USD.
Note: Patients having surgery in Guadalajara have the option to complete and supply their own lab work from a local provider prior to travel.
-
Tijuana Clinic: Approximately $105 USD.
Note: Patient-supplied external lab work is not permitted for procedures performed in Tijuana.
Age-Specific Requirements (Patients 40+)
For all patients over 40 years of age, a preoperative Electrocardiogram (EKG) is strictly required to evaluate cardiovascular health for general anesthesia. This diagnostic test can be conveniently completed upon your arrival at either our Guadalajara or Tijuana facilities for approximately $100 USD.
